Big Island Pictures has started production on a new factual series called RESCUE CHOPPER, which got the green light late last year.
The series will be made by the team behind the acclaimed documentary AFTER MAEVE with Queenslander Jan Cattoni as writer/director and Mark Chapman and Ruth Berry producing.
RESCUE CHOPPER takes audiences into the busiest helicopter rescue service in Australia - Queensland's Emergency Service. The service responds to 15,000 requests a year for medical evacuations from its three bases in Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville.
The series will document the crews and their relationships as they save people's lives in often-dangerous conditions in remote and exotic locations.
The Pacific Film and Television Commission, the ABC, the Australian Film Commission, Discovery UK and ABC Content Sales have invested in the series.
